Prostate-specific antigen for staging prior to surgery and for early detection of recurrence after surgery.

P H Lange1.

Abstract

The exact usefulness of prostate-specific antigen for staging before radical prostatectomy is still unclear. Perhaps the marker's most exciting feature is its value in detecting residual disease after radical prostatectomy. The author also discusses the technical questions in testing and interpretation.
