The development, achievements, and aspirations of a university network dedicated to tobacco control research and education.

The establishment of a university-based network of colleagues with a shared goal of increasing tobacco research and educational opportunities can enrich the learning environment and ultimately contribute to reducing the toll of smoking. Such a network was established at the University of Michigan, and similar approaches can be adopted at other universities, considering a range of funding levels.
