Abstract
Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) was used to study the cortical integration of an osseointegrated prosthetic thumb that had been attached to the amputee's hand 13 years ago. We found that tactile stimuli applied to the prosthesis activated the primary somatosensory cortex on both sides.Mesh:
