Abstract
The insertion of a nasogastric tube for feeding and gastric aspiration is a common practice in the care of newborns, especially if they are preterm and unwell. Esophageal perforation is a rare but serious complication of this procedure. Associated perforation of the pericardial sac is an unusual, severe, and previously unreported complication of nasogastric tube feeding in a neonate. We present an illustrative case.Mesh:
