Abstract
We describe the case of an obese patient presenting leg oedema, progressive oliguria, orthopnoea and mild increased B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels. Bioimpedance analysis (BIA) provided additional data for the interpretation of the plasma BNP values, contributing to the diagnosis of heart failure and the appropriate management of the patient. In our mind, BIA could represent a useful tool for integrating the plasma BNP assay in both diagnosis and management of heart failure.Entities:
