[Adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction (AEG-tumor). Review of the literature].

Abstract

Due to an increase in the prevalence of cancer of the esophagogastric junction as well as in the knowledge of the origin and factors associated with the disease, we reviewed the definition according to the Siewert Stein classification, staging and surgical approach to early and advanced cases, as well as the introduction of new surgical techniques, adjuvant treatment and the use of PET Scan in the evaluation of response to neoadjuvant treatment; with more encouraging results.
