Primary sternocleidomastoid muscle flap in emergency reconstruction of traumatic oesophageal defect. Case report.

C W Barlow1, M Schein.

Abstract

Traumatic perforation of the oesophagus is potentially life-threatening. Primary closure may compromise luminal diameter if the defect is large. This report describes the use of a primary sternocleidomastoid flap in the repair of a gunshot injury to the cervical oesophagus.
