Abstract
Purkinje cells, the first nerve cells to be described, are still one of the most interesting and useful experimental models to investigate different aspects of neural function. This special issue of The Cerebellum is dedicated to this very special neuron and contains a number of articles covering different topics of Purkinje cell research, from developmental neurobiology to neurophysiology and neuropathology. More than 150 years after their discovery, Purkinje cells remain one of the most popular neurons in the neuroscience community.Mesh:
