Abstract
Reproductive tracts of 24 female coyotes hand-reared for behavioral research were examined by laparotomy following the 1977-78 breeding season. Litter counts revealed 51 whelps with 10 of the 24 females while examination by laparotomy indicated 83 uterine swellings in 18 of the same 24 females. The laparotomy proved to be an effective, relatively precise procedure and gave a 39% increase in data acquisition.Entities:
