Video-linked court liaison services: forging new frontiers in psychiatry in Western Australia.

Adam Brett1, Lawrence Blumberg.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To describe the use of videoconferencing that is providing a specialist forensic service to remote parts of Western Australia.
CONCLUSIONS: Court liaison has been shown to be an effective intervention for people with mental illness within the justice system. Most such programmes occur within metropolitan areas in Australia. Videoconferencing facilitates the provision of specialized forensic services to courts in remote parts of Australia.
