Abstract
Cardiolipin is a major mitochondrial membrane lipid and plays a vital role in mitochondrial function. The effect of thyroxine on the activity of liver mitochondrial cardiolipin synthase was examined in this study. Treatment with thyroxine (250 micrograms/100 g) for 5 days increased cardiolipin synthase activity by 52%. Mitochondrial levels of cardiolipin appear to be regulated in part by the effect of thyroid hormone on the activity of cardiolipin synthase.Entities:
