Abstract
The risk assessment method reported by the National Cholesterol Education Program, Adult Treatment Panel III, is used as a guide to define low-density lipoprotein cholesterol goals and cutpoints for intervention. Two approaches of this method are described by National Cholesterol Education Program, Adult Treatment Panel III and were used to compute coronary heart disease risk among participants in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 1999 to 2002. In conclusion, the low-density lipoprotein goals were not clear for a sizable proportion of participants, especially using the second approach, and may lead to less intensive intervention.Entities:
