[Nodular fasciitis of the face: causal role of piercing].

Alexis Botton1, Alain Bière, Christine Galakhoff.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Supralabial nodular fasciitis, benign, was observed after nose piercing. CASE: A 16-year-old girl consulted for a nodular lesion above her right lip, which had begun developing 2 months earlier, after she had her right nostril pieced. The diagnosis of nodular fasciitis was based on histologic and immunohistochemical findings. DISCUSSION: Nodular fasciitis, also known as pseudosarcomatous or proliferating fasciitis, is a rare lesion that can appear after local trauma. It is benign and can be treated by simple surgical excision.
