Endometrial adenocarcinoma presenting with an osseous metastasis.

Peter Uharcek1, Milos Mlyncek, Jozef Ravinger.

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Gynecologic cancers metastatic to bone are rare. Endometrial carcinoma usually presents with vaginal bleeding. CASE REPORT: A 67-year-old woman presented with pain, erythema and swelling of the right foot and no history of postmenopausal bleeding. Biopsy revealed primary endometrioid carcinoma metastatic to the calcaneus, talus and metatarsal bones. Lower leg amputation, total abdominal hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and pelvic lymph node sampling were performed. Postoperatively the patient received cisplatin with adriamycin and megestrol acetate and is alive with no evidence of disease 20 months after the diagnosis.
CONCLUSION: Endometrial carcinoma can present as a metastatic lesion of bone. Copyright (c) 2006 S. Karger AG, Basel.
