Abstract
The directed migration of cells drives the formation of many complex organ systems. Although in this morphogenetic context cells display a strong preference for migrating in organized, cohesive groups, little is known about the mechanisms that coordinate their movements. Recent studies on several model systems have begun to dissect the organization of these migrating tissues in vivo and have shown that cell guidance is mediated by a combination of chemical and mechanical cues.Mesh:
