Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To assess the therapeutic efficiency of dextran and steroids for sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL) and to investigate the correlation factors of the prognosis.
METHOD: In this multi-center clinical trial, 100 patients who were diagnosed of SSHL were randomly divided into dextran treatment group and steroid treatment group. Eleven correlation factors of the prognosis and therapeutic efficiency of SSHL were analyzed through a logistic regression model. RESULT: Four factors entered the logistic regression model. They were the mean value of high frequency of hearing threshold, vertigo, pattern of hearing loss and treatment programme.
CONCLUSION: Steroid was more effective in the treatment of SSHL compared with dextran.
