Abstract
Hemostasis and coagulation are vital during thyroidectomy. The gland is highly vascularised and any lack in the control of thyroid vessels has immediate consequence in terms of morbidity. General principles of coagulation are reminded and the use of ultrasonic dissector is presented as an attractive alternative. A comparative study performed in 2000 and more recent data confirm the advantage of the new device in terms of operative time saving.Entities:
