Abstract
This article discusses the clinical importance of hepatic osteopenia, the identification of risk factors for the individual patient, and the selection of patients, timing, and methods for diagnostic screening. General supportive measures to maximize bone health should be used in all patients at risk. In addition, for the patient with established osteoporosis, specific therapeutic measures may be justified, despite the lack of adequate randomized trials of these agents in patients with hepatic osteopenia.Entities:
