ACOG committee opinion. Number 319, October 2005. The role of obstetrician-gynecologist in the assessment and management of obesity.

Abstract

Approximately one third of all women in the United States are obese. Obstetrician-gynecologists should evaluate all women for obesity by calculating body mass index (BMI) measurement and should offer appropriate interventions or referrals to promote a health weight and lifestyle.
