Abstract
Upon osmotic swelling human epithelial cells exhibited significant increases in the membrane capacitance. Evidence for exocytosis includes its dependency on temperature, cytosolic Ca2+ and ATP as well as its sensitivity to guanosine 5'-O-(3-thio)triphosphate (GTP gamma S) and N-ethylmaleimide (NEM). A role of the osmotic exocytosis in the subsequent cell volume regulation is suggested.Entities:
