Abstract
Many patients are admitted to general hospitals with conditions that are alcohol related but they may be unaware that their drinking has contributed to their admission. A general hospital provides an excellent opportunity for health promotion, advice and referral tospecialist services. This article looks at the importance of asking patients questions relating too their alcohol consumption as well as introducing hospital and community-based alcohol support services.Entities:
