Abstract
The incidence and prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is on the rise worldwide. End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is the most advanced form of CKD, requiring some form of renal replacement therapy to ensure survival. Interventions to prevent or slow the progression of CKD, irrespective of the original cause, are thus of significant importance. The most effective of these interventions is based on the inhibition of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) and is the main focus of this review.Entities:
