Abstract
Besides a more rapid detection and susceptibility testing, radiometry offers possibilities for the identification of mycobacteria. This paper gives a chronological summary of radiometric techniques used in the BACTEC system (Becton Dickinson) for the identification of mycobacterial complexes/species, employing chemical compounds as selective inhibitory agents or for testing biochemical activities.
