Multiple risk factors in cardiovascular disease--fifth international symposium. 28-31 October 1999, Venice, Italy.

This meeting primarily dealt with the assessment of global risk for the development of cardiovascular disease. There was also a discussion of the ongoing trials with hypolipidemic drugs, especially statins. Particular emphasis was given to the management of dyslipidemia observed in diabetic patients.
