Abstract
BACKGROUND: Primary prevention of breast cancer through prophylactic mastectomy can reduce the risk of malignancy in high-risk individuals. No type of mastectomy completely removes all breast tissue, but a subcutaneous mastectomy leaves more tissue in situ than does a simple mastectomy. CASEEntities:

Figure 2photomicrograph 2A) Invasive ductal carcinoma, apocrine type: tumor exhibits an irregular invasive border and forms glandular structures. Hematoxylin and eosin stain, original magnification × 40. 2B) Invasive ductal carcinoma, apocrine type: cytological characteristics of intermediate nuclear grade, prominent nucleoli, and eosinophilic granular cytoplasm. Hematoxylin and eosin stain, original magnification × 100.
