Abstract
Seasonal patterns of reproduction in New Zealand sheep flocks arise primarily from the annual changes in daily photoperiod. Sheep detect these changes in lighting by means of a built-in biological clock and this information is relayed to the hypothalamic-gonadal axis via the pineal gland. The current level of understanding of the mechanisms which are involved in these processes is briefly reviewed.Entities:
