Women in medicine: an unceasing journey.

Claire V Wolfe1.

Abstract

Discrepancies between the sexes still generate comments in all facets of life. In medicine, we continue to see sex and ethnic differences in diagnosis, treatment recommendations and responses, and research. Within the house of medicine, despite the growing numbers and proportion of women in medical school, postgraduate training, practice, and academia, remarkable differences still exist in specialty stratification, income, and academic representation. This address examines the current data on women in medicine.
