Abstract
A concise total synthesis of the tricyclic terpene cyanthiwigin U has been accomplished in 12 steps and 17% overall yield. The key step of the synthesis is a two-directional tandem metathesis reaction that forms the cyclohepta[e]indene core from a readily available bicyclo[2.2.2]octene.Entities:
