Myomectomy: a review of surgical technique.

Fibroids are common amongst women of reproductive age. In women wanting to retain their fertility and/or uterus open myomectomy remains the most widely performed procedure. It is important to carefully counsel the patient about the pros and cons of surgery versus expectant management. Meticulous pre-operative evaluation and preparation will help ensure the procedure goes smoothly.
