Abstract
Fibroids are common amongst women of reproductive age. In women wanting to retain their fertility and/or uterus open myomectomy remains the most widely performed procedure. It is important to carefully counsel the patient about the pros and cons of surgery versus expectant management. Meticulous pre-operative evaluation and preparation will help ensure the procedure goes smoothly. Attention to the operating technique used is paramount in ensuring patient safety and surgical peace of mind. This review addresses the important aspects of open myomectomy including operative technique.Entities:
