[Intestinal tuberculosis in the child. Study of 28 cases].

H Hadj Khalifa1, A Abkari, J Hachim.

Abstract

Over a ten-year period, 22 cases of intestinal tuberculosis in pediatric patients were seen. The 25 lesions found in the 22 patients, involved the small bowel in 16 cases, the colon in 7 cases, and the ileocaecal region in 2 cases. Diagnosis was established on the basis of histologic evidence of tuberculosis, or on roentgenographic changes associated with peritoneal or pulmonary tuberculosis, or a positive response to specific therapy. Data from these patients are used to describe the clinical, biological, pathological, and radiological features of intestinal tuberculosis, as well as the diagnostic problems raised by this condition.
