Abstract
Thyroid carcinoma is a rare disease in childhood. The only known causative factor is radiation exposure during childhood. Most cases can be cured by surgery and eventually radioiodine. The aim of initial treatment should be the total removal of neoplastic foci with a minimal morbidity. Some cancer-related deaths have been reported decades after initial treatment. Copyright 2005 S.
