Role of CMR in assessment of myocardial perfusion.

Sanjay K Prasad1, Jonathan Lyne, Ping Chai, Peter Gatehouse.

Abstract

Ischaemic heart disease is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Assessment of myocardial perfusion is important in assessing the severity and extent of coronary artery lesions and in helping to guide revascularisation strategies where stenoses are documented. It provides information on the haemodynamic significance and a guide to prognosis. There has been much interest in the role of CMR assessment of perfusion and the opportunity for subendocardial resolution. We present an overview on its current status.
