Abstract
Although Aspergillus fumigatus is the most common etiological agent of invasive aspergillosis, other Aspergillus spp. such as A . flavus, A. niger, A. terreus and A. nidulans (Emericella nidulans) among others, have been also implicated. In this article, the taxonomy of the genus Aspergillus and the characteristics of the species most frequently isolated from patients with nosocomial aspergillosis are reviewed.Entities:
