Abstract
The name Hürthle is used in medicine to designate a particular type of thyroid cell, mainly characterized by a granular and deeply eosinophilic cytoplasm. This article describes the life of Karl Hürthle (1860-1945) and the experiments he performed in the early 1890s to explore the morphology and function of the thyroid gland.Mesh:
