Abstract
Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is the clinical condition in which IgG antibodies bind to RBC surface antigens and initiate RBC destruction via the complement and reticuloendothelial system. AIHA is commonly treated with transfusions, corticosteroids, and splenectomy. We present a case of an adult with life-threatening AIHA secondary to ulcerative colitis emergently managed with neuromuscular paralysis, induced hypothermia, and splenic embolization.Entities:
