Abstract
AIM: To study the alkaloid constituents of the hairy roots of Ipomoea batatas Lam. METHODS: Chromatographic methods were used for isolation and purification. The structure was elucidated on the basis of spectral data. RESULTS: An alkaloid was isolated from the hairy roots of Ipomoea batatas. CONCLUSION: The compound is a novel indole-type alkaloid, which is named as ipomine A.
