Abstract
Marrow hypoplasia and consequent pancytopenia caused by simultaneous administration of estradiol cyclopentylpropionate and diethylstilbestrol were diagnosed in a 6-year-old Old English Sheep-dog. The dog was treated with lithium carbonate (11 mg/kg of body weight, PO, q 12 h) for 6 weeks. Despite the generally grave prognosis associated with estrogen toxicosis, lithium treatment was apparently successful in inducing regeneration of the bone marrow. Side effects of lithium treatment were not noticed.Entities:
