[Tuberculous pre- and paravertebral abscess with spondylodiscitis].

A rare case of an adult with a large retropharyngeal cold abscess arising from a lesion of the upper cervical spine and causing airway obstruction is presented. The incidence, clinical features, and early diagnosis of spondylitis by magnetic resonance tomography, and the management of a retropharyngeal abscess are discussed.
