Performance rating as a subjective judgement.

H Murrell1.

Abstract

There seems no reason for subjective judgements of rating to differ from other forms of human judgement. For a rating scale to be linear, the subjective assessment and the actual performance should both be expressed in logarithmic form. The investigation described in this paper was performed to explore the possibilities of this concept. Provided proper scales are used and proper safeguards taken, subjective assessment as a method of measurement can be highly efficient.
