Abstract
The major types of professional coastal fishery in Sweden were studied. A questionnaire indicated that symptoms from the musculo-skeletal system were common and that certain symptoms related to certain types of fishing. Working tasks inducing severe workload were identified. They concerned handling the fishing gear as well as handling the catch. Ergonomics measures to decrease the workload were suggested and evaluated through ergonomics assessment, measurements of oxygen uptake and working posture analyses. It was found that ergonomics measures can be taken which are efficient in reducing the load on the musculo-skeletal system of the fishermen.Entities:
