Abstract
Carotid artery stenting is a less invasive technique for carotid revascularization as compared with endarterectomy. However, clinical efficacy for carotid endarterectomy has been established through rigorous randomized clinical trials. Clinical trials and registries on carotid stenting to date have not been powered to compare differential efficacy with endarterectomy in symptomatic patients. Consequently, caution is recommended in use of carotid stenting, pending reports from larger randomized clinical trials.Entities:
