Abstract
Genetic (human leukocyte antigen), disease-related and demographic risk factors for nevirapine reactions were examined in a nevirapine-exposed cohort. Cases involving combinations of hepatitis, fever or rash were associated with an interaction between HLA-DRB1*0101 and the percentage of CD4, whereas no associations were detected for isolated rash. These data suggest that HLA-DRB1*0101 and the CD4 status may determine susceptibility to nevirapine hypersensitivity, consistent with a CD4 T-cell-dependent immune response to nevirapine-specific antigens.Entities:
