Haydée Fiszbein Wertzner1, Talita Consorti.

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Phonological performance of children between 7 and 8 years. AIM: To describe cluster simplification and final consonant deletion processes used by children with typical phonological development.
METHOD: Participants of this research were 80 children of private and public schools. The phonological tests of the ABFW Teste de Linguagem Infantil were used.
RESULTS: The type of school attended by the subjects was a significant factor to explain the probability of presenting phonological processes. On the contrary, factors of age and gender were not significant.
CONCLUSION: The study demonstrated that there is a higher probability of public school children to use cluster simplification and final consonant deletion when compared to children of private schools.
