Simple modified preoperative nasoalveolar moulding in infants with unilateral cleft lip and palate.

Abstract

This paper reports a new preoperative nasoalveolar molding (PNAM) for infants with unilateral cleft lip and palate. The nasal stent of this PNAM is made of cobalt-chrome wire (1mm in diameter). A loop about 3mm in diameter in the middle of the stent enables precise manual control of the force and direction of the stent with considerable ease.
