Abstract
Vaccination is an effective possibility to prevent many bacterial or viral infections, but for several important pathogens still no vaccines are available. The sequences of complete genomes are now decoded for an increasing number of bacterial pathogens and offer the possibility for comprehensive screenings to identify targets for vaccine development. In this article current genomic approaches to identify antigenic proteins of Neisseria meningitidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Chlamydia pneumoniae are summarized.Entities:
