Management of retained foreign bodies and rectal sexual trauma.

Bruce Turner1.

Abstract

Little is written in medical or nursing literature about the incidence or management of rectal foreign bodies or rectal sexual trauma. Circumstantial evidence suggests that this rare problem is becoming more common. This article discusses the incidence, methods and treatment options for patients with this problem, and the nurse's role in ensuring they are cared for in a sensitive manner.
