Continuous monitoring of cerebral oxygenation in acute brain injury: multivariate assessment of severe intracranial "plateau" wave--case report.

J Cruz1, T A Gennarelli, W M Alves.

Abstract

A case of acute closed brain trauma is presented in which, for the first time, a full spectrum of multivariate physiologic abnormalities was clearly documented in association with a severe posttraumatic intracranial "plateau" wave and clinical signs of tentorial herniation. Prompt therapeutic measures proved effective, ultimately contributing to a favorable outcome.
