Abstract
Scavenger receptors represent a large family of structurally unrelated distinct gene products, expressed by myeloid and selected endothelial cells and able to recognise modified low-density lipoproteins. They also bind and internalise a variety of microbial pathogens, as well as modified or endogenous molecules derived from the host, and contribute to a range of physiological or pathological processes.Mesh:
