Communicating with dying children.

Abstract

Successful communication with dying children requires the use of a variety of innovative and creative communication skills. The author explores the skills which can be used by nurses when communicating about death and dying with children at different stages of development. The importance of adopting a model of communication, ensuring cohesive functioning of the multidisciplinary team and encouraging the co-operation of parents is emphasised.
