Abstract
Mitochondria exist as an interconnected network that is constantly remodeled by balancing membrane fission and fusion events. A new study by Szabadkai et al. in the October 8th issue of Molecular Cell shows that dynamin-related protein 1 (Drp1)-induced scission hinders the ability of mitochondria to transport calcium across the cell and mediate apoptosis.Entities:
